Fall Technical Meeting and Current Standards Activity

Register now to attend the 2024 Fall Technical Committee Meetings at the Courtyard Marriott Austin Downtown, this September 15-19, 2024. Hotel reservations and registration instructions for the meeting are found on the meeting web page--Early Registration closes on August 9. The deadline for proposals for the Fall 2024 cycle was July 3, 2024. All proposals have been posted to the applicable committee pages and the Standards Activity Web Page. Comments on proposals must be submitted using the Standards Development Platform (member login required) by August 27, 2024. Any written materials or presentations for the Committee meetings must be submitted to the proponent, the members of the committee, and to AWPA no later than August 27, 2023. All proposals will be considered for letter ballot during AWPA's Fall Technical Committee Meetings in Austin!

2024 AWPA Book of Standards
The 2024 AWPA Book of Standards is available for purchase!
As a non-profit standards development organization, the proceeds from Book of Standards sales provide much-needed funding for our standards development process. Every treating plant, laboratory, specifier, and inspector should have a current edition on-hand, so please be sure to purchase updated copies each year to help AWPA cover the cost of standards development. The new 2024 edition is available in two versions:
A 692-page printed book which may be purchased online at the AWPA Store, or by mail or fax.
A searchable online version which requires a paid subscription for access. Single-user and multi-user subscriptions are available for purchase through the AWPA store subscription page. After purchase, standards may be accessed online through the AWPA Standards Library.
2025 BoS Photo Contest
We are having a photo contest for the cover of the 2025 Book of Standards! Please let us know if you are interested in participating and we will send you the contest rules and release form. The winning photo will be featured on the cover of the printed version of the 2025 Book of Standards, as well as on the AWPA website and on printed materials.
The subject of the photo should be wood preservation and/or the wood protection industry as a whole. Any identifiable people in the photo will need to sign release forms as well.
This is a great way to get exposure (pun intended) for your creative talents.
Please send us an email to inform us of your interest in the contest (email@awpa.com) - deadline to submit photos will be December 31st!
In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the following AWPA members and friends. We extend our sincere condolences to their family, freidns and business associates.
Dr R. Sam Williams passed away June 3rd. Dr. Williams was an internationally recognized expert on wood finishing and weathering. He worked at USDA Forest Product Lab for over 30years, and was a respected AWPA member for many years.

AWPA Officers, Executive Committee, and Nominating Committee: In the next few months, AWPA members will be nominating individuals to serve as Officers, Executive Committee Members, or Nominating Committee Members for the 2025/2026 term. If you know of an eligible AWPA member that would serve AWPA well in these positions, please contact Nominating Committee Chair Jim Healey or you may submit the nomination directly to AWPA.
AWPA Award of Merit: Also, the deadline for nominations for the 2025 Award of Merit is December 1, 2024. Please consult the Award of Merit Policy and submit your nomination of a worthy individual to AWPA.
